Now if you are not using WhatsApp let me presume you don’t
own a supported phone or you are u just being a stubborn introverted nerd who
thinks technology will be your undoing and you deserve to live in a cave free
of internet while the rest live within the confines of free Wi-Fi.
If you are a phone manufacturer in this Android Epoch you
might consider giving Microsoft and Apple a run for their money by embracing Android
as the fit competitive operating system. Regardless of the fact that android is
open-source and may be a victim of immense security breaches, the operating
system remains a popular back-end in the smartphone world.
With Google being the chief developer of android after
acquiring it from Android Inc., the effect has been felt with the continued
release of updates which come with google crafted flagships harbored in nexus smartphones
which might as well be a point of reference to other mobile Tech companies like
Samsung and LG. HTC being one of the first phones used to run Android, the
company has remained at the helm of giving quality assurance when it comes to
software and hardware.
With androids permeability with resources and more so it’s
readily available source code, most smartphones running it have remained
relevant in the smart world so to speak.
WhatsApp wants to lock out a few nerds here and there who can’t
see the inevitability that comes with upgrades. Now a few dweebs will rant this move as
radical but then the fateful switch into conformity with the new standards of
technology will become a matter of life and death and your guess is right, most will chose life,
save for the few suicidal ones (like NOKIA).
An announcement made by WhatsApp seeks to inform NOKIA
and BLACKBERRY users that they might be cut off from WhatsApp services by the end of
the year. You might argue that
blackberry does not deserve this cruel onslaught given its continued relevance
in the industry with 7 million sales in 2014.
Well, their demise is attributed to the fact that the devices whose support will be ended , don’t offer customers the capacity to accommodate new features
when upgrades are rolled out in the near future and this will probably derail whatsapp's pace to embrace the future.
When WhatsApp began most smartphones were running Symbian and
blackberry but with Android effortlessly subduing the latter, they feel it
might not be a bloody situation with that “little” tradeoff.
WhatsApp will not run on :
- Blackberry (including blackberry 10),
- Windows phone 7.1
- Nokia s40
- Symbian s60
- Android 2.1 and 2.2
Am not a sadist but Nokia would be crying wolf if they feel victimized.
They deliberately remained adamant and this led to its undoing! Read: NOKIA X! The dramatic DIVORCE between MICROSOFT and ANDROID!
Have you upgraded ..? or are you on the verge of being shipped
out because you were hesitant to shape into the new era smartphones.
I got to get a new phone
ReplyDeleteAm glad to have embraced Android even V2.3 was out Lol
