Instagram is the application that is considered the creme de la creme software when it comes to charlatans indulging in a facade-embroiled spree of showing the whole planet how they are breathing first class Oxygen only leaving you to wonder if you actually inhale Nitrogen!

So ubiquitous is Instagram... You don't have to be CIA to keep up with the "Kingstargrammers" leave alone  Kardashian (s)... who profiles the highest shares quantified by the legion of followers she has(Most followed celebrity actually... with a whooping 45 million followers) ... quite prolific. By all means she's the Instagram blockbuster! You still have a long mile to tread if you want to trend like her. But as you continue soliciting more followers than Jesus had... Instagram continues to unveil better features to you for a seamless Instagram experience...

Direct messages

Now sending a direct message will not be as laborious as before when one had to start a new conversation altogether if you needed to send a picture or a video. Thanks to the renovation in version 7.5  which introduces threaded messaging that allows users to send content from their pictures feeds as a direct message using the right curved arrow.

Named groups

In a bid to counter the rather unremitting number of @-mentions used to tag other users as way of sharing a post,  instagram has introduced named groups that will serve the purpose of flagging posts to a group of interested parties explicitly. (That was a long time coming... whatsapp never saw this coming )

Maybe its time to obey the incessant update notifications on your phone as you quest to have a better beta version 7.5

Indeed its that CEO moment when 75 of your android applications need your approval!

Indications that Android 6.0 was on its way to grace android smartphones upgrade became a sure thing after the previews promulgated by Google as the overview  of what we should expect in Android M.

The" M" speculation was met with  a bazillion of possibilities with names like Macadamia, Muffin and Moon pie having the honors of being the nominees  to mention but a few. Some -like me- who are accustomed to the intoxicating sweetness that android offers in their candy-affiliated nomenclature, expected something like M For Molasses...  the swahili folks from coastal Kenya would give a toothy grin to the molars  to hear the M is for "Madafu".

Google has  saved you the anxiety in second guessing by validating that indeed the M will stand for Marshmallow. So taking over from Google lets have a shallow look at the latest previews by Google

Android 6.0 Marshmallow expectations

• The platform will have enhanced permissions behavior with an updated permissions user interface 
• The fingerprint Application programming  interface will be updated for optimum exploitation of the  fingerprint feature.
• Storage analysis will be more advanced in the settings preview interface with the introduction of an elaborate analysis paradigm that demystifies how space has been used by what resource and in what amount.

• Network reset option will  be included in the backup and restore selection meaning that one will be able reset the WiFi, Bluetooth and cellular data connections

• Removal of status bar icons which might be filling up your statusbar and thus soliciting a plus sign that shows you have more notifications. This is possible via the System UI tuner which requires to be enabled in the developer options

WINDOWS 10 IS HERE... Is this the point i get to start using windows again?

Windows 10 was officially unveiled yesterday   29th of July with the Microsoft CEO gracing its orientation in Nairobi.
Now its only fair to put it as a basic thought that most if not All and sundry use Windows as their elementary Operating system. Even those with Mac books  would find themselves wanting a piece cake through the Window so to speak... regardless. Windows has become  so ubiquitous  an operating system such that one can safely say... Just as every house needs a window... Every PC needs Windows... 

But this cannot be the case for any folk out there who owns a PC... People like me would rather use Linux operating system as my "Main".  I wouldn't mind Windows playing the second fiddle simply because most of the operations i get engrossed in run smoother on Linux ... Welcome to the world of programming and seamless multi-tasking. 

Windows, at the end of the day, will serve its purpose and deliver what a user is accustomed to... Save for the the periodic mishaps experienced from lags that would otherwise be blamed on bugs from incessant updates.  It will provide the Window you are used to and navigation around the windows OS intricacies  will be a walk in the park.

Windows 10 is out and speaking of bugs, this release won't  be an exception considering the bluescreen that elicited a reboot of a PC during Microsoft's demonstration of Windows 10.  The upgrade is Free for Windows 8 and Windows 7 users, so save yourself the worry of buying a bugged Microsoft OS 10. You have nothing to lose in the upgrade and instead you will even be thrilled to a point all the shortcomings anticipated will be overlooked by the exhilarating User interface! 

 

So what's the Package Windows 10 has to offer?

I will put the intriguing features and Outlooks you would expect in a nutshell just to give you an overview of what you should expect.
The elements unveiled in Windows 10 cannot be considered as a radical change since they borrow from the earlier versions... In  this case Windows 8 and Windows 7. 

The start Menu

It consists of a dedicated start Menu that is re-sizable contrary to that of of Windows 8 which had a start screen.  This dedicated start Menu is actually a combination of the windows 7 start Menu and that of Windows 8 start screen.

Owners of hybrid laptops will find a full size start screen when they switch to tablet mode for easier interaction with fingers on the the UI

Cortana feature

Cortana is a digital assistant feature that is featured right from the taskbar by  clicking  onto the search icon and inputs in the search bar
The search aids to hasten attempts to retrieve content on the PC and OneDrive.
While browsing a tabloid cortana will come in handy if you highlight a word and  select Cortanas option to search without switching tabs. The results pop on the side of the screen.

Cortanas also acts as a trigger... from setting of reminders and sending emails to intelligently studying your location and giving you elaborate information regarding the social amenities you might need around you. 

Edge Browser

This browser has a similar icon to that of Internet Explorer except for the fact that the app brings in a whole new experience whose relevance might be thwarted by superior browsers like Chrome or firefox. 

Snap feature

The snap feature allows for a user to snap up to 4 apps at the corner of the screen and lets you resize them..

Task switching

This is a feature which has been brought into perspective and to me has  been a long time coming... I only enjoyed such multi-tasking techniques on my Linux operating system but now Windows has embraced it wholesomely and that's a thumbs up. The task switching icon on the taskbar helps one to easily enter a multitasking environment with regards to switching between apps
The Virtual  desktop allows one  create multiple desktops thus multiple screens for multiple operations. 

Alert center

This acts as drawer that serves to alert on notifications and also includes settings toggles. 

Its all funs and Games

Xbox lovers like me can now enjoy their xbox games on their pc by using the Xbox app  and streaming their favorite games from their xbox consoles.

Music can  be streamed on the new music app.  Movies are also part of the entertainment hotspot provided by the Movies & Tv app where you can buy and watch movies that captivate your world.

Basically Windows has bounced back from the  hell hole Microsoft dug drifting most of its consumers with it in the name of a new user interface...(Windows 8 had little or no consideration to its consumer experience and it was rather the company's project which  was a flop at least to me!) Microsoft having taken me(us) to hell and back with the inferior, impoverished and underwhelming windows 8 the experience will remain nothing but spooky.!  Am I the only one who complained?  Some of my colleagues found  it even more annoying than a neighbor who has their WiFi secured with a key! I couldn't agree more! 

So Microsoft came out of the closet and released Windows 10 which has already been welcomed with plaudits. This is because their smart move to bring back elements of earlier versions. 
Windows 10 is a result of a fusion between Windows 7 which was uniquely stable  and  the prolific Windows 8 features,  that has begotten  a potent amalgamation of a user Interface that leaves you blown away.

Has Microsoft met your expectations with Windows 10? Did Windows 8 make you to revert to alternative operating systems like me to Linux?  Would the new Windows 10 induce orgasmic inclinations to make you use Windows again or ultimately?

SAMSUNG SWITCHING FROM ANDROID TO TIZEN ON THEIR SMART DEVICES. SMART MOVE?

Samsung is the syndicate that has virtually taken the smartphone world with a wave considering its prevalent du jour when high end devices are being reviewed. It's predominance to some, is as exhilarating as it is underwhelming. The chap seated next to you is always caressing a Samsung phone (Yes she will fondle her phone but will threaten to cut off your "transformer" on your slightest attempt to fulfill a foreplay,  phones are that important nowadays!). Simply Samsung phones are everywhere to a point  it creates a superficial thinking which i would consider misplaced, that only Samsung phones are legit! Some of these old Folks  are loyal to Samsung ONLY, and would rather die than try another phone. Reason!?  Samsung is an "Original"  product... Their  creme de la creme! Samsung's  ubiquitous nature is quite plausible but then again its also the very loophole that spearheads its undoing! Samsung clones have become more widespread than the Genuine devices!  I wouldn't  blame the gullible stooges much for buying the cloned devices since even the clones  have been polished to a nearly convincing rendition that actually impairs your judgement on its illegitimacy and lures you into actually believing its the Bomb itself!  Sorry Samsung, but this clown named popularity, decided to stub you on the back a little with clones galore.

The Switch

Is "Ditching" the word here? .. Just maybe... but Samsung plans on having a new a new Operating system which will only render Android discarded if not less prioritised. The new operating system branded  TIZEN will be the new  powerhouse fueling  to the Samsung phones albeit it had already been rolled to some of Samsung devices like the Samsung smart Tv and smartwatches like the Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo

• What is Tizen? 

  

   

Tizen is a Linux based OS(operating system) which is an extension of the linux Mobile project started in 2007.
This OS culminates from a joint effort between Samsung, Intel, Huawei, Vodafone, Telecom, Orange,  Panasonic, NEC, sprint,  KT, Fujitsu and SK. 

• Tizens Strengths

The application framework is based on Bada which supports HTML5 Q7 GTK+ and EFL based apps.
Standard development tools like Javascript and J Query make the development easier too.
Tizen also runs HTML5 apps  that can also run on Android, Firefox Os, Ubuntu Touch and Web Os without necessarily using a browser!

• Reasons for the Switch

Samsung  having invested a batch of resources in terms of Money and time in development of the OS, its time they get the prize of their deliberate effort to nurture Tizen which has now been sufficed enough to run on its devices. There's no better way to show the whole world how dependence is just but for a time space. (Android and Google clicking in the background ).

With Tizen building of gear specific apps becomes unconstrained and the smoothness is only compared to that of blended juice... Something like a "smoothy" operation between Gears and phones like in the case of Galaxy series!  Quite a gratifying  i must say.

Samsung wants to  be the boss... Who doesn't!?  Maybe  and just maybe they loath their affiliation to Android and  Google but they'd rather suck it up for the sake of the business... More money more Power they say... And Samsung would dance to the tune regardless.  Samsung wants to call the shots here and won't have to be at the mercy of Android and Google if they need to integrate a new feature. They will add a new feature whenever they want! Yes Freedom is coming tomorrow!

Indispensability   being the mother of invention, i thought it only fair to play in the same and develop an app that will aid in providing the news i publish in the click of a button, at a glance! ANDROID M IS JUST ABOUT TO DEBUT... BRACE YOURSELVES FOR THE OVERHAUL, DROID JUNKIES

No sooner had you got the android 5.0 lollipop update on your android gadget than Google announced the release of a new version ANDROID M 6.0 .

Upgrades have become an inevitable ingredient in our daily lives to a point you are inclined to agree with me that this very metamorphosis has been inculcated in virtually all our aspects of existence . A thirsty lad will chase after a damsel in distress with a bigger booty with the hope of eating more groceries than he had initially bargained for! Yes, he will leave his current girlfriend with a rather miniaturized butt and head for the bigger derrières like a boss! Thats an upgrade right there! The upgrade is always humongous , colossal.... it never misses the lager than life intrigue!

Such is the pursuit android is embracing and you better brace yourself for the unremitting upgrades!

Android lollipop became available for upgrade through the OTA (over the air) channel for devices that run ROMS of android serviced by Google e.g the NEXUS and Google play edition devices on November 12 2014. I know for a fact that the likes of Samsung S6 and Sony Xperia Z series have rolled out an update to a lollipop version  as a stock ROM and OTA updates respectively. Since then, high end devices have be catapulting their systems towards the new standards in a bid to offer their loyal clients the royalties that come with the latest versions of android. Yes old is gold but in technology teaching an old dog new tricks is a plus! Lollipop was unveiled and I was caught up in its frenzy since I am a lover of upgrades,

Six months later a newer version of android has been promulgated and however swift a changeover it may seem you will always be aroused by the magnanimous features you are yet to feel! Its like a bait! Maybe you haven't got the update that elevates you to the saccharine nature of a lollipop and Google are already bombarding you with a cloud nine experience of android M yet you haven't been to “cloud 8 ” yet. You must be crying foul huh? Just in-case you are stressed about it just know there's still a conservative or should I call them archaic   distressed folks running on gingerbread, but still they didn't die!

Here is a breakdown of what you should expect on the Andoid M 6.0

• App permissions

The applications you install on your device all require permissions to use a particular resource on your android system. This is usually defined at the initialization of of an application installation

These app permissions will now be clearly defined such that permissions will now be requested the first time you use a feature . This means that every particular resource that needs permission will have its own trigger on the first instance of use ! Is that cool? Yes … security enhancements will start from there! Apps that maliciously fetch information from your android repository will now be on the leash

• Fingerprint scanners

  

   

Fingerprint support is one feature that many would yearn for in their phone security setup! Yes I know you want that finger to do the talking... just so you can unlock your device seamlessly, stealthily to be precise! Like a boss!

• Android pay 

   

  

   

This googles new mobile payment feature that is designed give a customer a smooth and easier experience during payments in selected stores . With your credit card and a phone that supports NFC and running android kitkat and above payments through American Express Visa master card discover and carriers such as AT&T verizon and T-mobile will be be taken to a whole new level!

• Open with? Dialogue boxes automation

   

You must have tried opening a link only to be thwarted with a dialogue box as your first answer! Then follows a stack of options prompting you to chose an application that you wish to open up the link.

 A new feature that choses the best suited application to open up the link will override that ultimatum. More like ...just spoon-feed me already! If this then that comes into play... if I click a twitter link open up the twitter application with no question. Yes take me to heaven pronto!

• More power less charging?

Your device will be accustomed to a new feature called doze that will lengthen the the standby time by using motion detectors . Android will know if you are not using your phone or if you have dozed off , so that it can start dozing too.. how? By reducing the background processes !

The USB Type-C support will also -ensure faster charging . The interesting part  is  that the phone will also act as a power-hub which only means you can charge another device using your phone! Awesome!

• Auto-backup and restore apps

When the devil sends the agents to come get your phone, you will definitely lose your apps and the unending number of selfies you take with your phone trying to disapprove your camera pixels that you are not as ugly as its trying to put it!(yes if you have to take too many selfies to get the right one .. you are not far from ugly!). Android M will provide for a way through which you can retrieve your apps and other data. This data will be stored on your Google drive and the data will not only be encrypted, it will not not consume the quota of storage you have been allocated by Google!

Other noticeable changes are ;

 

A new application drawer that will display the last four recently used apps and will have a vertical alphabetic navigation on the left. A dark these will also be an option in theme selections

The Android M RAM manager will provide a more elaborate monitor of the RAM usage by individual applications

Adoptable storage will also be employed such that devices will now be able to switch personal. data between internal storage and external storage freely.

Google applications will also have a new touch and apps like Google chrome and Google Now will have a overhaul that might actually scintillate you Google experience!
